OBSERVANT
Observant
Jack-Of-All-Trades = Master Entrepreneur. There goes a saying: “To be a
good speaker, you have to be a good listener.” Tweaking it a little, for those
startup entrepreneurs who are still working for some boss, we say that working
sincerely under somebody’s leadership will make you a better leader.
Consider
this – the more you’ve listened to, the more you’ve read, the better you can
speak. Similarly, the more jobs you’ve handled with varied job descriptions,
the more diversified your skill set will be.
Mr.
Durrani was, in many ways, an unlikely recipient for such a revelation. An
observant Muslim born to Pakistani parents, a Wall Street refugee turned
natural-foods entrepreneur, he was then trying to create a line of frozen-food
entrees adhering to the Muslim religious standard of halal for the American
market. He,whom a Muslim himself has seen the problem in various perspective
and he took the chance by selling halal food first in west country. He was then
widen his business by selling frozen food so that his product can be sell
around the world.
In
2010,Saffron Road has made the first entrees landed store shelves. As the
Muslim holy month of Ramadan approaches, bringing with it sahur and nightly
iftar meals, the company has put out more than 50 different products and built
annual sales on a pace to reach $35 million.
As
significant, thanks to a the partnership with the Whole Foods chain, Saffron
Road’s products have moved beyond expected and made it into the commercial
mainstream. Due to that, Saffron Road is among the first halal producers to
follow what might be called the kosher model of simultaneously serving and
transcending a communal consistency.
